Tata Motors, the largest company selling electric cars in the country, is now going to solve the problem of EV charging. It is focusing on doubling the number of EV charging points across the country, so that the country can be prepared for the future and people can shift to EVs faster.

Tata Motors' electric vehicle unit Tata.ev will now build 4 lakh EV charging points across the country. This plan is till 2027. This is a part of the Open Collaboration 2.0 initiative. The aim of this initiative is to make EV charging easier in the country.

What will be there in this plan?

To achieve the target of 4 lakh charging points, Tata Group is going to partner with charging point operators and oil marketing companies. The company will install around 30,000 public chargers on its own. All these EV chargers will be verified by Tata.ev. All these can also be located on its IRA App.

Not only this, Tata EV will also install more than 500 large mega chargers at many major locations in the country. Customers of Tata's electric car will be given priority at these charging points. These charging points will charge the battery very fast and there will be space to charge many cars simultaneously. This will facilitate people to travel long distances by electric car.

How will the Mega Charger Network work?

According to Rushlane's report, Tata's mega charger network will be set up in collaboration with public charger companies like Tata Power, Charger Zone, Accurate and Zion. In the first phase, 500 such chargers will be installed. These charging points will be built near the highways and will be a part of the EV corridors being built in the country.

There will be at least 4 charging points at every Mega Charger Point. Tata customers will get tariff benefits and they will also get priority. These will work 24×7 and customers will get all the payment options here.
