Microsoft Recall Feature:  Some time ago Microsoft introduced a new AI feature for Windows 11. This feature was named Recall. This feature takes screenshots of the activities done on your computer. With the help of these screenshots, you can find the files, websites, or apps that you opened earlier. For example, which file did you open, which website did you visit, which app did you use, etc?

Microsoft claims that the recall feature has been designed keeping in mind the security and privacy of users. But recently revealed information suggests that there may be a major security flaw in the recall. The recall feature works on your device itself and does not use any kind of cloud to store information.

What are the concerns about the recall feature?

This AI tool helps you find your files, website history, etc. But the worrying thing is that all this data is stored in plain text on your device, it is not protected by any kind of encryption. Any hacker can easily steal this information. This information has been given by security researcher Kevin Beaumont.

They say that when you log in with your Microsoft account, the information stored by Recall can be read. Microsoft believes that the Recall feature can improve the way you search on a computer, but its weak security can cause more harm than good.

Beaumont also said that if your computer is stolen or accidentally falls into someone else's hands, it will be very easy for hackers to steal this data. Microsoft will have to remove these shortcomings of the recall feature by the end of this year, only then it can be launched with Copilot + PCs.
