2024 has been action-packed for OnePlus. At the beginning of the year, the company launched OnePlus 12 and 12R. After that OnePlus Watch 2 and the OnePlus Nord CE 4 were also introduced. People liked these phones a lot. Just a few days ago, the company also launched the OnePlus Nord 4. This phone has not only competed with the competition with Snapdragon 7+ Gen 3 chipset, AMOLED display, and 50MP OIS camera. But in some cases, it has also left them behind.

This includes its special AI features, 6 years of software support a large 5,500mAh battery, and all this at a starting price of just Rs 29,999. I have been using this phone for a long time. Let's know how the OnePlus Nord 4 is and tell you 4 reasons to buy and 2 reasons not to buy...

OnePlus Nord 4: Unboxing

Inside the box of the Nord 4, you will find the phone, a red Type A to Type C cable, a SIM ejector tool, a 100-watt adapter, a transparent cover, and some papers. I got the top model with 12GB RAM and 256GB storage, which is colored Obsidian Midnight. With 8mm thickness and weighing around 200 grams, the Nord 4 is not the lightest phone, but OnePlus has distributed the weight of this phone well, making it easy to hold, even if you are having long conversations or playing games.

OnePlus Nord 4: Design

The Nord 4 stands out from the rest of the phones with its metal unibody design and two-color finish. The camera layout has also been changed for the metal body, with the vertical pill shape camera layout being replaced by a horizontal look, which looks quite good and attractive. The glossy back has a mirror-like finish and gives the phone a premium look, but at the same time it also gets fingerprints and smudges quickly. The volume buttons and power buttons are now on the right side of the device, while the left side has OnePlus' iconic alert slider. The Nord 4 has an IR blaster, USB 2.0 port, in-display fingerprint scanner, stereo speaker setup, Bluetooth 5.4, Wi-Fi 6, NFC, and IP65 rating for water and dust protection.

OnePlus Nord 4: Display

The Nord 4 sports a 6.74-inch flat AMOLED display with very little bezels and a screen-to-body ratio of 93.5%. It has a peak brightness of 2,150 nits, which means the display is readable even in direct sunlight. The phone supports HDR, I checked out a few YouTube videos to check, and the phone did not disappoint. One display feature that will come in handy this monsoon season is OnePlus' AquaTouch technology, which ensures that you can use the phone in light rain or with wet fingers.

Battery

In terms of battery, the Nord 4 gets a big boost over its previous model and features a 5,500mAh setup that supports 100W SuperVOOC fast charging, which takes the device from 0 to 100% in about 30-35 minutes. The phone easily lasts more than a day with normal usage, and I got about 6.5 to 7 hours of screen-on time continuously.

OnePlus Nord 4: Software

The Nord 4 runs OnePlus' own Oxygen OS 14.1, which is based on Android 14, and promises at least four years of OS upgrades and six years of security patches, making it the OnePlus device with the longest software support. The Nord 4 also receives a TÜV SÜD Fluency 72 Month A rating, which means it should work well for at least 6 years in theory.

OnePlus has also added a new feature to the Recorder app called AI Recording Summary, which helps translate or summarize the recordings. Apart from this, other AI features like Text Summary and Text Translate are also coming with the upcoming update.

OnePlus Nord 4: Performance

The Nord 4 is powered by the powerful Qualcomm Snapdragon 7+ Gen 3 chipset, which is slightly lower than the flagship Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset but is at par with last year's top-end Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC. In terms of benchmarks, the Nord 4 scored 10,86,875 on AnTuTu, which is slightly low for a Snapdragon 7+ Gen 3 device. On Geekbench 6, it got a single-core score of 1,148 and a multi-core score of 3,572.

OnePlus Nord 4: Camera

The Nord 4 has two cameras at the back, consisting of a 50MP Sony LYT 600 primary sensor and an 8MP ultra-wide angle lens. For selfies, there is a 16MP sensor on the front, which is said to get support for 'AI Groupfie feature' in a future update. The 50MP primary sensor takes good shots in good lighting conditions, with plenty of detail and retaining the natural colours of both objects and humans. But video recording is just okay.

OnePlus Nord 4: Buy or not?

OnePlus has done a good job with the design and battery. It cannot be called the most powerful phone in the segment, but it is not too bad either. The cameras are good, but the video recording is not that special, it can be called decent. If you are a gamer then you should go for the POCO F6 or Infinix GT 20 Pro. Upcoming content creators can look at the Realme GT 6T only if shooting 4K videos with the front camera alone matters to you. But if you want a device with reliable performance that has a different design, then the Nord 4 will definitely be great.

OnePlus Nord 4: 4 reasons to buy

- Nord 4 has a strong metal and is protected from water splashes.

- The Snapdragon 7+ Gen 3 chipset installed in it makes the phone run very fast and without lag.

- The battery of the phone is 5500mAh and it can be fully charged in just 23 minutes.

- OnePlus has also provided very easy and good software in this top model phone.

OnePlus Nord 4: 2 reasons not to buy it

- The quality of video recording from the phone is decent.

- The camera does not have many other features, such as a mode for taking pictures of very small objects (macro mode) or a camera for zooming in on distant objects (telephoto camera).
