Today almost every person in the country has an Aadhar card. The Aadhar Card not only serves as an identity document but also as an essential document for all citizens. When this important foundation is misused, it can lead to significant difficulties. To prevent this, UIDAI has provided the facility to lock the Aadhar card, although very few people are aware of it. Let us discuss how to lock your Aadhar card.

How to lock Aadhar card online using mobile:

• Visit UIDAI website https://uidai.gov.in.
• Click on the 'My Aadhaar' tab.
• From the Aadhaar Services section, click on 'Aadhaar Lock/Unlock'.
• Click on the 'Lock UID' option.
• Enter your Aadhaar number, name and pin code.
• Click on 'Send OTP'.
• Enter OTP. Your Aadhar card will be locked.

How to lock Aadhar card through SMS:

• Send a message to 1947 from the mobile number linked to your Aadhaar.
• Send GETOTP after the last 4 digits of your Aadhaar number.
• For example, if your Aadhaar number is 123456789012, send GETOTP 9012 to 1947.
• Once you receive the OTP, enter LOCKUID followed by the last 4 digits of your Aadhaar and send the OTP.
• For example, if your Aadhaar number is 123456789012 and your OTP is 123456, then send LOCKUID 9012 123456 to 1947.
• Your Aadhar card will be locked.
