Due to the extreme heat this year, the demand for room air-conditioners has increased a lot across the country. The Consumer Electronics and Appliances Manufacturers Association says that a record 1 crore 40 lakh air-conditioners are expected to be sold this year. Association President Sunil Vachani told PTI that the sale of air-conditioners in May was 'record-breaking' and its volume is expected to increase by 30 to 40 percent in summer alone.

Annual sales will cross crores

Due to this extreme heat and hot winds, air-conditioners have become a very important thing in urban homes. According to Sunil Vachani, ACs that consume less electricity are now coming into the market, which is suitable for people of all incomes. Along with this, companies are also focusing on manufacturing the parts of air-conditioners in India itself. Due to all these reasons, the AC market is growing rapidly and it is expected that the annual sales will reach around 1 crore 40 lakh units.

AC market is growing

The market for air-conditioners for homes in India is estimated to be around 100 to 110 lakh units. Companies like Voltas, LG, Hitachi Johnson, Lloyd, Panasonic, Daikin, and Godrej compete in this market. This year the heat has broken all records, in some places the mercury has risen to more than 45 degrees Celsius, including Delhi-NCR.

These brands are in the highest demand

Appliance makers such as Voltas, LG, and Haier saw more than double the sales of air-conditioners in May compared to last year. However, they faced delays in the installation of ACs and problems in replenishing the stock of new energy-saving models.
