Bihar Cyber Crime: The terror of cyber thugs has increased these days. Some people are being digitally arrested and their money is being transferred, while others are being duped through a link. Now cyber thugs have discovered a new way of cheating and especially the people of Bihar are getting entangled in this trap. Cyber thugs have named it 'Jump Deposit Scam'. If you are not cautious about this, then it is possible that you may be next. Your hard-earned money may be gone. Know this new game of cyber fraud and be cautious…

Cyber fraud through jump deposit scam

Cybercriminals have now started duping people with the jump deposit scam. In this type of scam, the cyber criminal first targets the person whose bank account he wants to empty. He sends a notification of money being deposited in his bank account. As soon as that person opens his UPI account by entering the password to check the balance, his account gets emptied.

Without a PIN and link the account gets emptied.

The surprising thing is that you don't even have to share your ID's PIN number or link etc. To commit this kind of fraud, the cyber criminal first targets the person and tempts him by sending 500 to 2000 rupees to his account. After that he dupes him.

How do people become victims?

Raghavendra Mani Tripathi, SDPO of Cyber police station in Patna, also says that this scam is a completely new method of cybercriminals. Because the police had decoded the old method, now they are especially targeting the youth with the jump deposit scam. People who are less careful in entering the UPI PIN are especially more targeted. The possibility of such a scam has been seen in about half a dozen cases.

What is the way to avoid it...

  • Do not check the balance etc. immediately after money is credited to your account without your knowledge. Check the account only after about half an hour.
  • Do not enter the correct PIN code the first time. Enter the wrong PIN intentionally the first time and the correct PIN the second time.
  • If you become a victim of such fraud, register a complaint by calling 1930.
