There was a time when vehicles had to stand in long queues to pay tax at toll plazas. However, the toll tax system has changed with the introduction of the Fastag facility.

All vehicles are now equipped with Fastag. As soon as a vehicle reaches the toll tax booth, the toll is automatically deducted through Fastag.

If the Fastag of a vehicle is not working or is not recharged, then the driver will have to pay double the toll amount on reaching the toll tax booth.

If your Fastag is not working and you want to avoid paying double toll, you will have to use the prepaid Touch and Go card service. This service is being provided by the National Highway Authority of India.
