If you use Google Pay, Paytm or PhonePe with UPI, then this news is for you. Actually, the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) has ordered to close the UPI ID of many users from December 31. NPCI has said in the circular issued to Google Pay, Paytm and PhonePe that the UPI ID which has not been activated for one year, i.e. those users who have not transacted with any of their UPI IDs for one year, then it will be closed after December 31, 2023. Will be done.

NPCI, a non-profit organization, is the retail payment and settlement system of India. Apps like PhonePe, Google Pay and Paytm work under its guidance. NPCI also acts as an arbitrator in case of any dispute.

According to the NPCI circular, to enhance user security, UPI IDs that have not been used for a year will be locked. Nowadays, cases of online fraud are increasing, including scams related to UPI IDs. To solve these problems, NPCI has issued this instruction. Users who create a new ID without linking their old number can potentially become victims of fraud. Therefore, NPCI has been directed to shut down inactive IDs due to security reasons.
