Bizarre : The computer chip will be made from mushroom

The threat of electronic waste is increasing worldwide. Electronic chips and batteries form a major part of these.

They are made using plastic which is not recyclable. Scientist Martin says that if chips can be recycled, they can be used again.

Martin and his team used the skin of a mushroom species, Ganoderma Lucidum, to make a substrate for the chips.

It is a type of fungus that grows on rotting trees and forms tough skin around it to protect its mycelium.
