Indian leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal has not featured in international cricket for a long time. His last appearance for Team India was in 2023, and although he was part of India's victorious squad in the 2024 T20 World Cup, he did not get a chance to play in any matches. As IPL 2025 approaches, Chahal is set to return to action. However, even before the tournament concludes, he has made a significant career decision—he will play cricket overseas after IPL 2025.

Yuzvendra Chahal to Play for Northamptonshire in County Championship 2025

Chahal is set to return to the English County Championship, where he will once again represent Northamptonshire in the 2025 season. This will be his second stint with the club, having previously played for them in 2023. His new contract will see him in action from June until the end of the 2025 season, making him available for both the County Championship and the One-Day Cup.

During his first tenure with Northamptonshire in 2023, Chahal played a crucial role, helping the team finish fourth in Division Two. He impressed with 19 wickets in four matches at an average of 21.10. Additionally, in his List A debut for the club, he delivered a remarkable performance, taking five wickets for just 14 runs against Kent.

Chahal Excited for His Return to Northamptonshire

Expressing his enthusiasm about rejoining the team, Chahal said, “I thoroughly enjoyed my time here last season, so I’m delighted to be back. There are some fantastic players in that dressing room, and I can’t wait to be a part of it again. We played some great cricket towards the end of the season, and I hope we can build on that and secure some big victories.”

Northamptonshire Head Coach Welcomes Chahal

Darren Lehmann, the newly appointed head coach of Northamptonshire, also shared his excitement about Chahal's return. He stated, “I’m thrilled to have one of the world’s best leg-spinners back at Northamptonshire this season. His experience is invaluable, and he’s a true professional who loves the game. Having him with us from mid-June to the end of the season will be a huge boost for the team.”

With this decision, Chahal is set to gain valuable experience in England, keeping himself in top form while awaiting another opportunity in Indian cricket.
