Who is Australia's new T20 captain? The team announced for the series against Pakistan.
Australia has announced the team for the white ball series against Pakistan. 13 players have been selected for the T20 series, while 14 names have been announced for the ODI series. Pat Cummins will be seen leading Australia's ODI team against Pakistan. But the big question is who will be the captain of the T20 team? Australia has announced the team for the T20 series but the name of its captain is yet to be finalized. The 3-match ODI and T20 series between Pakistan and Australia will be played between 4 and 18 November.
Why did Australia need a new T20 captain?
Although Mitchell Marsh is the captain of Australia's T20 team, he will not captain the team in the series against Pakistan. The reason for Mitchell Marsh not captaining the team in this series is that he will not play in the series. Australian all-rounder Marsh will be out of the T20 series against Pakistan due to the Border-Gavaskar Trophy against India.
The T20 series against Pakistan will start on November 14 and will continue till November 18. Meanwhile, the Australian Test team selected for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy is to assemble in Perth to complete the preparations, where the first Test of the series will be played from November 22. Now since Marsh is a part of Australia's Test team against India, this is the reason why he will not captain the T20 series against Pakistan.
Not only the captain but the coach will also be new in the T20 series
Josh Inglis, Matthew Short, and Adam Zampa are the three big contenders to replace Mitchell Marsh as captain in the T20 series against Pakistan. However, there is no player in the 13-member team who has had captaincy experience before. In the T20 series against Pakistan, Australia will not only miss the regular captain but also the head coach. Andrew McDonald will not be the coach to focus on the Test series against India. In his place, Andre Borovec will coach the team in the T20 series.
