BCCI recently made it mandatory for Indian team players to play domestic cricket. After this, many players including Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma informed their respective teams about their availability for the Ranji Trophy. But now reports have come out that Kohli will not play in the next round of Ranji starting January 23. Apart from him, KL Rahul has also informed BCCI that he will not be available for the matches of this round. Both the players have cited injury to the board for not playing.

Are Kohli and Rahul injured by something?

According to an ESPN Cricinfo report, Virat Kohli has pain in his neck. He has been suffering from this injury since the Border Gavaskar Trophy and took an injection for it on January 8 after the series ended. But he has not yet recovered from it. Kohli has told the BCCI medical staff that he is still feeling pain in his neck. This is the reason why he will not be able to play the next Ranji match against Saurashtra on January 23. According to media reports, even though he will not play, he can be seen with the team.

He has been included in Delhi's squad and was also seen practicing. On the other hand, if we talk about KL Rahul, he has an elbow injury. Due to this, he will not be able to participate in the match against Punjab on January 23 for his domestic team Karnataka. Let us tell you that he is also going to become a father for the first time soon. In the 10 guidelines issued by BCCI, it has been said that the players will have to give priority to domestic cricket. If this does not happen then action can be taken against them.

These players will play a Ranji match

However, Kohli and Rahul will not play in the next round but they will have another chance. Actually, the final round of the group stage in the Ranji Trophy is to be played from January 30 to January 2. At the same time, the ODI series against England will start from January 6. Both the players can be seen in it. But there is a gap of 3 days between the two matches. So if they want, they can participate in the final round. On the other hand, Shubman Gill for Punjab, Rishabh Pant for Delhi and Yashasvi Jaiswal for Mumbai are considered certain to play in the match on January 23.
