India's para-athlete Praveen Kumar has won another silver medal in the Tokyo Paralympics with high spirits. He achieved this feat in the men's T44 high jump event. India has won 11 medals in this Paralympics so far. This includes 2 Gold Medals, 6 Silver, and 3 Bronze Medals. This is India's best performance in Para Games. India won four medals at Rio 2016 and four at the 1984 Paralympics.

Britain's Jonathan Broome-Edwards won the gold with a time of 2.10m and Maciej Lepiato of Poland took the bronze with a time of 2.04m.

Praveen first achieved a mark of 1.83m and then opted for 1.88m, which he cleared in his first attempt. After this, he achieved 1.93m and 1.97m marks.

Praveen failed to cover a distance of 2.01 meters in his first attempt but achieved it in his second attempt. He then covered a distance of 2.04 meters in his first jump. The next clearance came from his first jump at 2.07m. The bar was then raised to 2.10 meters, which Praveen failed to pass in all 3 attempts.

Earlier this year, Praveen won the gold medal at the World Para Athletics GP with a jump of 2.05m, a new Asian record. The 18-year-old has won a bronze medal at the 2019 Junior World Para Athletics Championships.
