Team captain Rohit Sharma has batted at an average of 37.66 in Test cricket in the last 4 years. Talking about Shubman Gill, he made his debut in December 2020. Since then he has played 30 matches. During this, he batted at an average of 36.45. Rishabh Pant has also not performed very well in the last 4 years. Except for 2022, he has also batted at an average of less than 40.

The recent performance of 4 of the 5 most experienced batsmen in the Indian team has been even worse. Rohit batted in 23 Test innings this year and scored 598 runs at an average of just 27.2. He could score only 2 centuries and 2 half-centuries. At the same time, veteran batsman Virat Kohli, whom the team trusts the most, scored 373 runs in 16 Test innings this year at an average of 26.6.
