It is a matter of pride for any cricketer to represent his country. But only a few players can play 100 international matches for their country. Players are also honored on this special occasion. A special cap is also given for the 100th international match. This cap is given at the beginning of the match. But an international player had to wait 17 years for this special cap. This player is none other than former New Zealand player Lou Vincent.

Lou Vincent was given a special cap earlier this month to commemorate his 100th ODI match. He received this honor almost 17 years after achieving this feat in 2007. Sir Richard Hadlee gave the cap to Vincent at a small ceremony in Auckland, which was also attended by Vincent's family and some former teammates. Lou Vincent said on this occasion, 'It was a great way to be recognized for my cricket career, it was a truly memorable, special night in which some lovely words were spoken.'

The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) imposed a lifetime ban on Vincent in 2014 on charges of corruption. At the same time, in December 2023, the ECB revised the punishment, allowing Vincent to work in domestic cricket. Vincent was imposed 11 lifetime bans in relation to incidents that took place during his tenure at Sussex in 2008 and seven offenses committed in the 2011 Champions League T20. Apart from this, Lou Vincent also admitted that he was approached by bookies during the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL). At the same time, Lou Vincent, who last played for New Zealand in 2007, was terminated from the team by New Zealand Cricket in 2008, when he signed a contract to play for Chandigarh Lions in the Indian Cricket League.

After leaving cricket, it became difficult for Lou Vincent to manage the household expenses. Due to which he started a new life by working as a labourer in a small town called Raglan. It is said that he used to do repair work in a building company. Let us tell you, Vincent scored 2413 runs in 102 ODIs for New Zealand and also played 23 Tests and nine T20 matches between 2001 and 2007.
