Team India Head Coach: Rahul Dravid will remain as the head coach of Team India, contract extended!

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced the contract extension for Head Coach Mr. Rahul Dravid and the support staff (Senior Men) of Team India. The BCCI had a fruitful discussion with Mr Rahul Dravid and unanimously agreed to extend the tenure after his contract expired after the recently concluded ICC Men's Cricket World Cup 2023.

The Board recognizes the important role played by Mr Dravid in building the Indian team and appreciates his exceptional professionalism. The Board also appreciates Shri VVS Laxman for his exemplary roles as the Head of NCA and Stand-in Head Coach. Similar to their famous on-field partnerships, Mr Dravid and Mr Laxman have worked together to take Indian cricket forward.

BCCI President Mr Roger Binny said, “Mr Rahul Dravid's vision, professionalism and determined efforts have been important pillars in the success of Team India. As the head coach of the Indian cricket team, you are always under intense scrutiny and "I expand on it." He is appreciated for not only accepting challenges but also for rising through them. The performance of the Indian team is a testament to his strategic guidance. I am glad that he has accepted the offer to remain the head coach and it speaks of the mutual respect and shared vision between him and the BCCI. I have no doubt that under his leadership, the team will continue its journey to the pinnacle of success and set new standards along the way.”

BCCI Honorary Secretary Mr Jay Shah said: “I had mentioned at the time of his appointment that there is no better person than Rahul Dravid to take over the role of head coach, and Mr Dravid proved himself again with his performance Is. Our World Cup campaign was nothing short of extraordinary, having won 10 consecutive games before the finals, and the head coach deserves praise for setting the right platform for the team's development. The head coach has our full support, and we will provide him with all the support he needs for continued success at the international level."
