India recently announced the squad for the World Cup 2023. Suryakumar Yadav has also been included in this. Surya is also in the Asia Cup 2023 squad. He has not been able to do anything special in the ODI format yet. However, despite this, the selection committee and captain have expressed confidence in him.

After this, now former batting coach of Team India Sanjay Bangar has commented on Surya. He has said where Surya needs improvement in ODIs.

Had to learn to score runs in the middle overs

Sanjay Bangar said, "It is not easy to hit sixes and fours in the middle overs. When three-four wickets fall, it is not easy to hit sixes and fours. The ball remains hard throughout the innings in the T20 format. But In the last over of the ODI, the ball becomes soft. Sixes do not come easily. Every batsman has to find a formula to score runs. Suryakumar Yadav definitely tries to hit fours. He knows where to hit. There is a need to improve. It is the batting between the 25th and 40th overs. I think how to score runs in this period, it is not ready yet.

Surya's career

It is noteworthy that Surya has played 26 ODIs so far. During this period he has scored only 511 runs. During this period he has been able to score only two half-centuries. Surya's best ODI score for India is 64 runs. He has scored 1841 runs in 53 T20 matches for Team India. He has scored 3 centuries and 15 half-centuries in this format. His best score in this format is 117 runs.
