Praveen Jayawickrama was asked by a corrupt person to contact another player for fixing in the 2021 Lanka Premier League. But he not only did not inform the anti-corruption unit about this but also created obstacles in their investigation.

ICC had asked for a reply by giving 14 days

ICC first asked Praveen Jayawickrama for an answer as to why he did this and also gave him 14 days' time for that. But, when ICC was not satisfied with the answer, it decided to ban Praveen Jayawickrama. ICC had asked Praveen Jayawickrama for an answer in August this year.
