This person slapped Sehwag

BCCI vice-president Rajeev Shukla revealed this during a program in 2013. Actually, during the ODI series on India's tour of England in 2002, the then coach of Team India, John Wright, was very angry about Sehwag's batting. Sehwag was continuously failing. He used to get out in just a few balls. One day John Wright got so angry that he slapped Sehwag.

Ganguly got very angry

When Ganguly came to know that Wright had slapped Sehwag, he got very angry. Rajiv Shukla was the team manager at that time. Ganguly told Shukla that John would have to apologize. Shukla told Ganguly that he would talk to John Wright on this issue. John Wright was smoking a cigarette outside the dressing room. At that very moment, Shukla raised the issue of slapping Sehwag.

There was a ruckus in the dressing room

John told him that he had lost his temper with Sehwag as a teacher. In his 'defense', John said, 'I only pushed him, I did not slap him. He was repeating the same mistake again and again. I could not tolerate his mistake.' But Sourav Ganguly was adamant that John Wright must apologize at any cost. On the other hand, Sachin Tendulkar had a different opinion.

Sachin took over the matter

Rajiv Shukla said that Sachin took me aside and said that no matter what happens, John Wright should not be asked to apologize. He said that I understood Sachin's advice that if the coach himself apologizes then what will happen next? After this Rajiv Shukla explained to Sehwag. Sehwag understood and he said that there was no need for John to apologize.
