Till 2020, 8 teams used to play in IPL, but in 2021, BCCI gave entry to two franchises in the form of Gujarat Titans and Lucknow Super Giants. Since then, a total of ten teams participate in this league. Now one of these two teams is going to be sold.

Team India's new vice-captain Shubman Gill captains Gujarat Titans in the IPL. There is a mega auction in 2025, before that there can be a big change in his team. At present, it is owned by CVC Capital Partners, but next year it can be with Adani Group and Torrent Group. CVC Capital bought this franchise in 2021 for $ 745 million i.e. Rs 5625 crore. Now it has been three years of this franchise and CVC Capital wants to sell it. According to the Times of India, for this it has spoken to Adani Group and Torrent Group. If the deal of both is confirmed, then Gautam Adani can be seen competing with Mukesh Ambani in IPL in a new style with Gujarat Titans.

What is the cost of Gujarat Titans

When CVC Capital bought the Gujarat Titans franchise in 2021, its price was $745 million i.e. Rs 5625 crore. Now it has been three years and its price has almost doubled in this time. Its estimated price is currently being estimated at 1 to 1.5 billion dollars. If Adani Group and Torrent Group reach an agreement with CVC Capital, then they may have to pay around Rs 8366 crore to Rs 12550 crore for it.

When can the deal be done?

BCCI has made some rules in IPL, under which it prevents the new franchise from selling its shares. For this, it keeps a lock-in period on every new franchise. This period of Gujarat Titans will end in February 2025, after which the deal can be finalized.

Adani Group owns the WPL team

Adani and Torrent Group operate all their work from Ahmedabad, while CVC Capital's head office is in Luxembourg. Adani and Torrent Group wanted to buy this Ahmedabad franchise in 2021 as well, but lost the opportunity. At that time, Adani Group had bid 5100 crores and Torrent Group had bid 4653 crores for Gujarat Titans. However, CVC Capital defeated all the bidders and won the bid for Rs 5625 crore. After that, Adani Group bought Ahmedabad's franchise Gujarat Giants in WPL (Women's Premier League) for Rs 1289 crore. Now they have a chance to buy the ownership of the men's team. Apart from this, Adani Group has invested in UAE's league ILT20.
