Shubman Gill has scored a century against Bangladesh in the Chennai Test. For this, he faced 161 balls. This is his 5th century in Test cricket and the 12th century of his career. This is his third century in Test cricket this year. With this brilliant century, he has achieved another feat. For the first time in Test cricket, Gill has scored 3 centuries in a calendar year. Earlier, he had scored 2 centuries against England during the Test series held in February-March this year.
Struggle in Test cricket
Shubman Gill made his debut for Team India in Test cricket against Australia in December 2020. He scored 45 runs in the first innings of his debut match and 35 runs in the second innings. Gill, who performed brilliantly in ODIs, has been struggling continuously in Tests. He had to wait for about 2 years for his first Test century. Gill scored his first Test century against Bangladesh in December 2022.
After this, he scored a second-century against Australia in March 2023. Then in February-March 2024, he scored 2 more centuries during the England Test series and now he has scored his 5th century.
