There are some players who have a name. And, there are some who do not have a name but their work speaks for itself. Shreyas Iyer is a player in this second category. Even though his name is not resonate much in the Champions Trophy 2025 among big names like Virat-Rohit, on the strength of his own bat, he is among the top runners of the tournament. Iyer may get rewarded for his same performance after the Champions Trophy. It is reported that BCCI will renew the central contract of the players after the Champions Trophy ends, in which Shreyas Iyer may again enter.

Iyer will return with a new contract!

So was Shreyas Iyer out of BCCI's annual contract player list till now? Yes, he was out because last year BCCI found him guilty of indiscipline and took action against him. He had broken BCCI's rule by not playing domestic cricket. But now the story has changed. Shreyas Iyer has not only learned a lesson from that incident but has also brought more maturity in himself than ever before.

BCCI will make decisions based on the performance of the players

According to the Times of India report, BCCI decided to renew the annual contracts of the players after the Champions Trophy because it wanted to review their performance in this ICC tournament. In the new contract, the decision regarding the grade of the players will be based on their performance in all three formats. The report also said that BCCI will also review Grade A Plus, which currently has Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Jaspreet Bumrah, and Ravindra Jadeja.

Will Rohit and Virat be out of the top grade?

According to the report, Rohit, Virat, and Jadeja's place is in danger in the upcoming new central contract. These three can be removed from the top grade i.e. Grade A Plus. This is because BCCI is thinking of giving preference to only those players there who are playing all three formats. Rohit, Virat, and Jadeja have all retired from the T20 format. Their performance in the Test season has also not been that good. However, the report also said that with the title win in the Champions Trophy, their position is expected to be saved in the central contract.
