Indian team's veteran opener Shikhar Dhawan joined Team India in 2010. After leading the team's opening innings for 12 years, he announced his retirement from international and domestic cricket on 24 August. After retirement, Dhawan himself has made a shocking revelation. The veteran opener told in an interview that he was very jealous of India's current vice-captain Shubman Gill. His revelation has surprised everyone. Dhawan also gave a big reason behind this.

Shikhar Dhawan dominated the Indian team. He along with Rohit Sharma won many important matches for the team. His performance was especially excellent in ICC tournaments. However, after the arrival of Shubman Gill in 2019, his importance gradually started decreasing. Gill first entered the ODI team, then in 2020, he became a regular member of the Test team as well. During this time he scored many centuries. Gill was being described as Virat's successor.

On the other hand, Dhawan gradually started staying out of the team. He was not even able to score centuries. After retirement, he admitted that he was jealous of Gill because he had already made a place in 2 formats and was scoring many centuries. Whereas he was playing in one format and would get stuck at half-centuries. However, later Team India's 'Gabbar' himself acknowledged Gill's performance and advocated giving him a chance. Fans were also overjoyed to hear this honest answer from Dhawan.

Shikhar Dhawan may have retired, but his fans need not be disappointed. He will still be seen playing cricket. The third season of Legends League Cricket will be organized from September 20, in which 6 teams will participate. Dhawan has joined the Gujarat team in this league of retired cricketers. In this league, he can be seen opening with Chris Gayle.
