Despite a stormy half-century innings by Shefali Verma (52 runs), the Indian women's team had to face defeat by 38 runs against England in the first match of the three-match T20 series. In this match played at Wankhede, England batted first and scored 197 runs in 20 overs. While chasing the target, it could score only 159 runs in 20 overs.
