The Indian team performed brilliantly in the recently concluded 2023 One Day International World Cup. Under the captaincy of Rohit Sharma, India won all its first 10 matches and entered the final with hopes of winning the title. However, in the final match, the Australian team led by captain Pat Cummins defeated India by six wickets to clinch the championship trophy. After this, in the 5-match T20 series against Australia, India won 4-1 under the captaincy of Suryakumar Yadav in ODI and KL Rahul in T20.

Now the demand is being raised to give captaincy to Rohit Sharma once again. This sentiment has been expressed by many fans and cricket pundits. Former Indian cricketer Gautam Gambhir has also given an important statement regarding this. He believes that if Rohit Sharma is in good form and is performing well with the bat, then he should be given the captaincy.

Gambhir said, "Captaincy is not a big deal. I don't think Rohit is a bad captain. You can't call him a bad captain just because of one bad match. If he is in good form and playing great cricket." So I believe he should be given the captaincy.”

Gambhir stressed that captaincy is not mandatory, but having a good team is important. Captaincy should be given to a player who is performing well, be it Rohit Sharma, Hardik Pandya or Suryakumar Yadav. He explained the importance of form in T20 captaincy.

Responding to questions about his heated exchange with Sreesanth during the Legends League cricket match between Gujarat Giants and India Capitals on December 6, Gambhir chose not to comment on the matter. He said, "I have nothing to say on this matter. I have come here for good work. I do not want to talk about it."

It is noteworthy that during the match, there was an altercation between Gautam Gambhir and former fast bowler Sreesanth and their issue reached social media, where Sreesanth shared several videos targeting Gambhir.
