The issue of captaincy has been dominating Indian cricket for the last few days. There is a debate about who will be the captain of the Test team after Rohit Sharma. Many experts are also suggesting the name of star wicketkeeper-batsman Rishabh Pant for this responsibility. Whether this will happen or not will be known only in the coming months, but even before that Pant has got the command of the team. Only this is not Team India but the command of the Delhi cricket team. Yes, the star wicketkeeper has got the captaincy of the Delhi cricket team for the next match of the Ranji Trophy. Delhi's squad for this match will be announced on Friday 17 January.

The group stage of Ranji Trophy is starting again from 23 January, in which some regular players of Team India are also going to play. Pant from Delhi had already informed the association president about his availability. In such a situation, it is now believed that he will also captain the team. Delhi has to play its next match against Saurashtra.

According to the Times of India report, on Friday, January 17, the selection committee of Delhi and District Cricket Association (DDCA) will announce the squad for this match. The report quoted a DDCA official as saying that Pant's name will be finalized in this meeting itself. During this, the team will be selected for this match from a potential squad of 38 players. At present, this team is being selected only for the next match. Even after this, Delhi has to play its last match in the group stage but Pant is unlikely to play in it.

There is no update on Kohli

As far as Virat Kohli is concerned, DDCA has not received any update from the star batsman yet. Ever since Pant became available, everyone's eyes are on Kohli whether he will make himself available for this match or not. Kohli is currently in Mumbai, where he is busy preparing for the housewarming of his new house in Alibaug. In such a situation, it is expected that Kohli will give an update only after this program.

There is curiosity about this because recently Rohit Sharma practiced with Mumbai's Ranji team, which indicated that he too could play for the next match. Yashasvi Jaiswal (Mumbai) and Shubman Gill (Punjab), who were part of the team on the Australia tour like Kohli, have agreed to play for their respective teams.
