According to a report in CricketBuzz, BCCI has finalized the dates of IPL 2024. The opening match will be played on 22 March, and the final on 26 May. However, final approval is still pending. If this schedule remains final, the tournament will end just five days before the T20 World Cup in the West Indies and USA starting on June 1. It is noteworthy that Team India is going to play its first match on June 5.

This year's IPL schedule may be affected by the upcoming general elections. The IPL is scheduled to be held during the same period as Lok Sabha elections across India. These elections will be held in different phases, which will start in March and continue till May. Therefore, it is possible that BCCI may discuss with the government before finalizing its IPL schedule.

Despite the Lok Sabha elections, there is still hope that IPL will be organized in India this year. In 2009 and 2014, the IPL was held outside India due to the Lok Sabha elections. However, in 2019, the tournament was not moved abroad.

Indian players will get a break of 10 days.

If these are the last dates of the IPL, then Indian players will get a break of only 10 days after the England Test series. It is noteworthy that the last match of the 5-match Test series against England is to be played from 7 to 11 March.
