Rajasthan: Avani Lekhara and Krishna Nagar will be honored with Khel Ratna today!


Two Paralympic players from Rajasthan's capital Jaipur, Avani Lekhara and Krishna Nagar, will be honored by President Ram Nath Kovind with Major Dhyan Chand Khel Ratna Award today. This time 11 players were selected by the National Sports Awards Committee for the Major Dhyan Chand Khel Ratna Awards. These include the names of Avani Lekhara and Krishna Nagar. 


For the first time today, two Paralympic players from Rajasthan will be honored with the Khel Ratna award simultaneously. Avni Lekhara, a resident of Shastri Nagar, Jaipur, brought laurels to the country by winning gold in the 10m air rifle and bronze medals in the 50m air rifle women's competition at the Tokyo Paralympics. 


Avani Lekhara is the first Indian athlete to win two medals at the Tokyo Paralympics. Krishna Nagar won the gold medal for India in the badminton short height category at the Tokyo Paralympics.
