Lakshya Sen fought hard in Paris Olympics, gave a wonderful performance but this Indian player could not win the medal. In the bronze medal match of Paris Olympics, Lakshya Sen had to face defeat at the hands of Malaysian player Lee Zii Jia. The big thing is that Lakshya Sen had won the first game of the bronze medal match but despite this he lost the match. After winning the first game 21-13, Lakshya lost his rhythm in the second game. In the second game, the Malaysian player made a comeback with a score of 21-16. Lakshya lost the third game 21-11.

Lakshya's performance at the Paris Olympics

Lakshya Sen performed brilliantly in the Paris Olympics. In the first group match, he defeated Guatemala's Ko. Cordon in a one-sided manner by 21-8, 22-20. After this, he managed to defeat Belgium's Julian Carregi by 21-19, 21-14. In his third match, Lakshya defeated Indonesia's Jonathan Christie by 21-18, 21-12. In the pre-quarterfinals, he defeated Indian shuttler Prannoy Kumar by 21-12, 21-6.


In the quarter-finals, Lakshya Sen showed his brilliant game and defeated Chou-Tien-Chen of Chinese Taipei despite losing the first game. Lakshya won this match 19-21, 21-15 and 21-12. However, in the semi-finals, Lakshya lost to Denmark's Viktor Axelsen 22-20, 21-14. After this, Lakshya also missed the bronze medal match and his dream of winning an Olympic medal was shattered.

Fourth-placed goals

Lakshya Sen finished fourth in badminton singles. He is the fifth Indian player to finish fourth in this Olympics. Arjun Babuta, Ankita Bhakat/Dheeraj, Manu Bhaker, Maheshwari Chauhan/Anant Jeet Singh Naruka have also finished fourth. Although Lakshya Sen could not win a medal, he achieved the feat of reaching the semi-finals in his very first Olympics, which is the first time an Indian men's player has done so in singles.
