According to information received from ministry sources, the Board of Control for Cricket in India had made a special request to the Sports Ministry to include Mohammed Shami's name for the Arjan Award, originally his name was not on the list. Shami had taken wickets at an average of 5.26 in ICC ODI World Cup matches.
