Josh Inglis hit a century in 43 balls, made 70 runs from sixes and fours, broke Maxwell-Finch's record
Australia's explosive wicketkeeper-batsman Josh Inglis has scored a tremendous century. The Australian batsman scored a century in just 43 balls in the second T20 match against Scotland. With this, he also became the fastest batsman to score a century for Australia in T20 International. He broke the record of Aaron Finch and Glenn Maxwell, who scored centuries in 47-47 balls. This is the second century of Inglis' T20 International career. Here he has made a place in the list of Finch and Maxwell, who have scored 2 or more centuries in T20 International.
Australia batted first in the second T20 match on Friday 6 September in Edinburgh. Opener Travis Head, who was the star of the last match, was out in the second over without opening his account, while the other young opener Jake Fraser McGurk also returned to the pavilion in the fourth over. After this, wicketkeeper-batsman Josh Inglis took charge and attacked without wasting much time. During this, Inglis also completed his half-century in just 20 balls.
Inglis continued the attack even after this and took the innings forward along with Cameron Green. Even after Green was out, Inglis did not stop and completed his century in the 18th over. He completed his second T20 International century in just 43 balls with 2 consecutive sixes. In this way, he broke the record of former captain Aaron Finch and star all-rounder Glenn Maxwell for the fastest century for Australia. Inglis was finally out in the 19th over. He scored 103 runs in just 49 balls, out of which 70 runs came with the help of 7 fours and 7 sixes. Not only this, he also became the wicketkeeper to score the fastest century in T20 International.
This was the second century of Inglis' T20 International career. Earlier, he played an innings of 110 runs against India in Visakhapatnam in November 2023. He is only the third Australian batsman to have 2 or more centuries in T20 Internationals. Finch has 2 and Glenn Maxwell has 5 centuries. However, despite this great century by Inglis, the Australian team could only score 196 runs in 20 overs. Apart from Inglis, Cameron Green scored 36 runs in 29 balls, while in the end, Tim David scored 17 runs in 7 balls. Brad Curry took 3 wickets for Scotland.
