The West Indies team has defeated Pakistan in a Test match after 35 years by entering its home ground. Pakistan won the first match of the two-match series while West Indies won the second match and tied the series 1-1. The hero of the West Indies' victory in this match was Jommel Warrican. 32-year-old Jommel Warrican snatched victory from Pakistan on its own soil after 35 years. Jommel used such magic in his spin that Pakistani batsmen were seen dancing on their own pitch. Warrican was not only chosen as 'Player of the Match' but also as 'Player of the Series'. Let's know who is this bowler in front of whom Pakistan surrendered at its home ground.

Who is Jomel Warrican?

32-year-old Jomel was born on 20 May 1992 in Richmond Hill, St. Vincent. He moved to Barbados for cricket. Here he played cricket at the junior level. After this, he played cricket for the West Indies Under 19 team against the Leeward Islands in 2009.

Later, he also got a place in the West Indies team for the 2010 Under 19 World Cup. Warrican came into the limelight in 2015 when he made his Test debut for West Indies. He took 6 wickets in his very first match. However, he did not get many opportunities in the West Indies team for 10 years. He has played only 20 Test matches in 10 years so far. While Warrican is still waiting to play ODIs and T20 Internationals.

Warrican took 9 wickets in the second match.

Warrican troubled the Pakistani batsmen a lot in the second and last Test of the series played in Multan. Even in this low scoring match, Warrican did not give the Pakistani bowlers a chance to stay on the crease. He took four wickets for 43 runs in 17 overs in the first innings. Due to this, Pakistan was all out for 154 runs in the first innings. While Pakistan was chasing the target of 254 runs given by West Indies in the second innings, its condition was even worse. Pakistan was all out for just 133 runs in the second innings. Warrican once again wreaked havoc with his spin. He took 5 wickets for just 27 runs in 16 overs in the second innings. The result was that West Indies registered a spectacular victory by a margin of 120 runs. Apart from the ball, Warrican also contributed with the bat. He scored an unbeaten 36 in the first innings and 18 runs in the second innings.

History was created in the first match as well

West Indies lost the first Test to Pakistan but Jommel created history in this match too. Apart from scoring 31 runs in the first innings, he also took three wickets. In the second innings, he defeated 7 batsmen of the Pakistani team. Warrican took more than a dozen wickets by giving only 32 runs in 18 overs. During this, he also broke the records of legends like India's Anil Kumble and Sri Lanka's Muttiah Muralitharan. Both these legendary spinners had taken a maximum of 6-6 wickets in an innings in a Test on Pakistani soil.
