Joe Root is breathing fire with his bat these days. He has set many records with his runs and centuries in the last 3 years. He is breaking some record or the other in every series. On the third day of the first test match against Pakistan in Multan, he became the highest run scorer for England by scoring 72 runs, leaving behind Alastair Cook. Apart from this, Root broke the record of 34 centuries of Brian Lara, Sunil Gavaskar, Mahela Jayawardene, and Younis Khan with his 35th test century. Now he has created history by scoring the sixth double century of his test career in the Multan test. With this, he has also equaled Sachin. Sachin also scored 6 double-centuries in his test career.

Joe Root returned unbeaten on 176 runs on the third day of the Multan Test. Today, in the first session of the fourth day, he scored a double century by adding 24 runs. For this, he faced a total of 305 balls. However, when Root was on 186, Pakistan had a chance to dismiss him. But Babar Azam dropped an easy catch on Naseem Shah's ball. After this, he did not give any chance to the Pakistani team and completed his double century.

Let us tell you that this is his second double-century against Pakistan. Pakistan is the second team against which Root has scored 2 double centuries. Root has scored double centuries 5 times before this. The first double century from Root's bat came in 2014 at Lord's ground. He scored an unbeaten 200 against Sri Lanka. After this, in 2016, he scored a double century against Pakistan in Manchester and played an innings of 254 runs.

Root had to wait 3 years for his next double century. In 2019, he did this feat for the fourth time against New Zealand in Hamilton. But in the last 3 years, he has done this 3 times. In 2021, he scored a double-century against Sri Lanka and India. After 3 years, he has done this again.

Joe Root equaled the record of 7 great players including Sachin Tendulkar with the sixth double century of his Test career. The first name is of his rival player Kane Williamson. Williamson has also scored 6 double-centuries so far. Apart from him, Sachin Tendulkar, Ricky Ponting, Younis Khan, Javed Miandad, Virender Sehwag, and Marvan Atapattu have scored 6 double centuries in their Test career. However, Root is still 1 step away from Virat Kohli. Kohli has scored 7 double-centuries in his Test career.
