India and England are currently playing a five-match Test series. Wicketkeeper-batsman Ishan Kishan was not selected in this series, due to which the fans were surprised. Initially, there were reports that he was not mentally fit and hence he was away from cricket. However, when he started practising for IPL, it became clear that he was now fit. There is also a latest update regarding Shreyas Iyer who is struggling with bad form. BCCI has taken a strict decision regarding these two players.

BCCI has asked Shreyas Iyer and Ishan Kishan to join their respective Ranji teams from February 16, before the start of the match. The board took this decision when Ishan Kishan left Ranji to prepare for IPL. Now Shreyas will have to perform well in the Ranji Trophy also to return to the Test team.

It is noteworthy that Ishan Kishan took a break after the South Africa tour last year citing mental health. After this, he did not play in the T20 series against Afghanistan. Despite this, he was not selected for the Test series against England. Head coach Rahul Dravid had said that Ishan Kishan needs to play domestic cricket to make a comeback in the national team. However, even after that suggestion, he did not participate in the Ranji Trophy and started preparing for IPL.

Let us tell you that BCCI has also applied this rule to Krunal Pandya and Deepak Chahar. However, both these players are not part of the team's plans for Test cricket.

This rule will not apply to Kohli

The rule of playing Ranji Trophy matches will not apply to Virat Kohli, as he has withdrawn his name from the England Test series citing personal reasons. This means that the board is aware of his whereabouts. On the contrary, Ishan Kishan did not inform the board about his location and he started practising for IPL with Hardik Pandya and Krunal Pandya.
