Is this the reason behind Team India's defeat? Jaspreet Bumrah revealed a big secret.
In the Gaba Test, Australia scored 445 runs in the first innings. The Kangaroo team scored this huge score in just 117.1 overs. The team's batsmen batted at an average of around 4. The Australian batsmen thrashed the Indian bowlers. Travis Head scored 152 runs in just 160 balls. 5 Indian bowlers bowled, out of which 3 had an economy of more than 4. Jasprit Bumrah alone took 6 wickets, due to which Team India was somehow able to all out Australia. After the third day's play ended, he revealed why Team India conceded so many runs.
The weather caused a lot of trouble on the third day. Therefore, only 23 overs could be played. After the day's play was over, Jasprit Bumrah came for a press conference on behalf of India. During this, he told that Mohammad Siraj, who was part of the team's pace attack, was injured during the match. Bumrah said, 'Before coming here, I had a conversation with Siraj about bowling. He had a niggle in this match, despite that he kept bowling. Siraj knew that without him the Indian team would come under pressure.'
Siraj therefore bowled without worrying about his injury. On the second day of the game, i.e. Sunday, 15 December, he went out of the field for an over. That's when the news of his injury came out. However, he returned in the very next over, after which it seemed that everything was fine. However, in the end, what was feared proved true.
This revelation by Jasprit Bumrah reveals the real reason behind the Indian bowling attack looking weak in the match. From cricket experts to fans, everyone was questioning Siraj's lack of wickets and his being expensive. After Bumrah, he was the second most important bowler in the team. Due to not being fully fit, his bowling looked ordinary in comparison to Bumrah and Akash Deep. He proved to be the weak link of Team India. He could not make an impact from the other end.
Big things about Bumrah
Jasprit Bumrah said many big things about the match and Team India during the press conference. On the poor performance of the Indian team, he said that no one can be held responsible. He said that 'We are going through a change. The whole team is new. In such a situation, it is difficult to play at a difficult place like Australia. That's why I am trying to help everyone, so that they can learn and become better.' Bumrah further said that 'Right now we are thinking about batting. A good partnership was needed but we were frustrated with the interruption due to continuous rain. However, the weather cannot be fought. That's why we are trying to bat as long as possible.'
Siraj conceded so many runs
Mohammad Siraj bowled 23.2 overs in the first innings of the Gaba Test. During this, he conceded 97 runs at an economy of 4.20 and could take only 2 wickets. Bumrah was putting pressure from one end but the Australian batsmen did not face any problem due to the runs coming from the other end. After the ball got old, he also attacked other bowlers.
Ravindra Jadeja gave 95 runs in 23 overs at an economy of 4.10 but he did not get any success. Nitish Reddy gave 65 runs in 13 overs at an economy of 5 and took 1 wicket. Jasprit Bumrah gave only 76 runs in 28 overs and took 6 wickets. Apart from him, Akash Deep bowled well. He gave 95 runs in 29.5 overs at an economy of 3.20 but got only 1 success.
