In IPL 2024, Shubman Gill became the captain of Gujarat Titans for the first time. Recently, he was sent as the captain of Team India on the Zimbabwe tour, where he won the series 4-1. Now he has been made the vice-captain of T20 and ODI on the Sri Lanka tour. Fans are surprised by this decision of BCCI. Questions are being raised whether the decision of the board is correct or it has made a big blunder. This question has been answered by former Team India batting coach Vikram Rathod. He has welcomed this decision of the board. In an interview given to the Indian Express, he has praised Gill a lot and also made a big prediction.

Gill will become like Rohit-Virat

Vikram Rathod was the batting coach of Team India for five years. He was also a part of Team India during the T20 World Cup. Now he has justified Shubman Gill being made the vice-captain. According to him, Gill has captained well in IPL and Zimbabwe. Vikram Rathod believes that Gill has shown excellent body language during this time and that is why BCCI has given him this responsibility in Sri Lanka.

Vikram Rathod said in an interview with Indian Express that Gill has all the qualities of a good leader. If he is made the captain in the future, he will also perform like Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli. Virat and Rohit also performed their best after getting the captaincy. He predicted and guaranteed that Gill will one day become the captain of India in all three formats.

Why was there emphasis on making Gill the captain?

Vikram Rathore praised Shubman Gill a lot. By referring to two incidents, Rathore revealed Gill's maturity and for this reason also insisted on making him the captain. He told that when Gill was struggling and failed to score a half-century in 12 innings, he himself came forward and asked Rohit to bat at number 3. After this, he scored a century against England in Vizag. Apart from this, Vikram Rathore also praised the game awareness of Team India's new vice-captain. He said that very few young players have game awareness like Gill. Apart from this, he never runs away from the challenge in any situation. For this reason, he insisted on making Gill the captain in the future.
