Pat Cummins made a huge impact on the cricket world with his staggering price in the IPL 2024 auction, which is currently underway in Dubai.

After leading Australia's World Cup 2023 victorious campaign last month, it was no surprise that Cummins was a highly sought-after player at the auction.

Amid the bidding war, Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) emerged victorious, buying Cummins for Rs 20.50 crore. This historic deal makes him the second most expensive player in the history of IPL auction.

"Excited to join SRH for the upcoming IPL. I've heard a lot about the Orange Army, I've played in Hyderabad a few times and I like it," Cummins said in a video message posted by SRH on Twitter. I can't wait to get started. Nice to see another Australian, Travis Head. This season will be a lot of fun and hopefully a lot of success."

His teammate Mitchell Starc bagged a huge deal worth Rs 24.75 crore from Kolkata Knight Riders and broke Pat Cummins' record of the most expensive purchase in the Indian Premier League. However, this record only lasted for one hour.

During the IPL auction in 2024, KKR participated in a fierce bidding war with Gujarat Titans to acquire the services of Starc.

After an absence of eight years, the 33-year-old Starc will be returning to the IPL, having previously played for the Royal Challengers.
