IPL 2021: Would like to take a step forward from the good performance of IPL 2020: Axar Patel
Delhi Capitals all-rounder Axar Patel said that his team would like to take a step forward from last season's performance in the second leg of IPL 14 in which it reached the final. Delhi Capitals made it to the final for the first time in IPL 2020 held in UAE and the team led by Shreyas Iyer lost to Mumbai Indians in it. Delhi team is currently on top in the points table.
"When it was announced that the second leg of IPL-14 would be held in UAE, I thought about my past performances here," Axar said. In the last season, the all-rounder took nine wickets in 15 matches. “We have fond memories of the tournament in which we reached the IPL final for the first time. We would like to repeat that performance and hope to go one step further in the finals this season.
Talking about the difference in the weather between the UK and the UAE, Axar, who was part of the Indian team in the recently concluded Test series in England, said, "As far as the weather is concerned, there is a difference of ground and sky in both the places. It was very cold in England and here we are trying to adapt to the heat. When we stood on the balcony of our rooms during the quarantine, we got an idea of the heat but when we started practicing on the net, we got a good idea of the weather. We will get used to these conditions in the next two three days.
Let us tell you that this time Rishabh Pant is captaining the team instead of Shreyas Iyer. He was made the captain of the team due to Shreyas's absence and has been retained as the captain of the team despite Shreyas being available in the UAE leg.
