Rohit was given extra time to get back into action
Head Coach Jayawardene said during a virtual press conference after the match against Chennai Super Kings. He will be seen on the field in the next match. The head coach further said, "After coming back from England, Rohit was running apart from batting, maybe we thought he needs a few more days so Rohit should be fine to play the next game." According to the coach, Hardik was training, he had some problems, so he was given a few days as a precaution, nothing serious.
Jayawardene spoke on the performance of Mumbai Indians
During the press conference, when Mahela Jayawardene was asked about the poor batting of Mumbai Indians, he said, actually it is not so, in the first half I had to struggle in Chennai because we had to face the conditions. Didn't get used to it, it wasn't an easy wicket, but we need to do some experimentation. There was a need to take responsibility in the match, experimentation is something that we need to work on.
We lost wickets early
The most successful bowler for CSK in this match was Dwayne Bravo, he took three wickets while Deepak Chahar walked two players. Saurabh Tiwary played an unbeaten inning of 50 runs for Mumbai. When asked about the pitch, Jayawardene said, "To be honest, there was nothing special in the second innings, the wicket was good, we lost a few wickets early, we probably needed someone to take the responsibility and bat in the innings." What we didn't do was the difference between what Rituraj Gaikwad did with CSK for him.
Gaikwad played an innings of 88 runs
Against Mumbai, Rituraj Gaikwad scored an unbeaten 88 while batting. Due to which MS Dhoni's team managed to score 156 runs for 6 wickets. While chasing the target of 157 runs, the team of Mumbai Indians could only manage 136 runs for 8 wickets.
