Pakistan was the host of the Champions Trophy 2025. But when the final of the tournament was played and its award ceremony took place, no official from the Pakistan Cricket Board was seen. Now in such a situation, controversies were bound to happen. Shoaib Akhtar's statement added fuel to the fire. He further fuelled the controversy by saying that it is beyond understanding why this happened. However, former Pakistan captain Wasim Akram had a solid reason behind this. What he said made it clear why the PCB chairman was not seen not only in the presentation ceremony but also in Dubai.

The PCB chairman's health deteriorated, and he did not reach the final

According to Wasim Akram, the real reason for PCB chairman Mohsin Naqvi not reaching Dubai for the final was his ill health. Giving information about this on a YouTube channel named Sports Central, he said that as far as I know, the PCB chairman's health is not good, due to which he could not go for the final. Wasim Akram further said that although two officials from PCB - Sumer Ahmed and Usman Wala - did reach there, it is not known why they did not go on stage.

Shoaib Akhtar had raised questions about the absence of PCB officials

Earlier, Shoaib Akhtar had also raised questions on the absence of the PCB chairman or any other official from the presentation ceremony of the final. He had said that this was beyond his understanding. It is a matter of concern that such a thing happened in a world-stage match. They should have been on stage. But unfortunately, we did not get to see that.
