The 7th day of Paris Olympics 2024 was very good for India. Although Indian athletes missed some opportunities to win medals, Manu Bhaker, Lakshya Sen and the Indian hockey team performed brilliantly. Manu Bhaker has already won two medals in this Olympics. Now she has reached the final of the 25m pistol event of women's shooting. In such a situation, now the fans are once again expecting a medal from her. At the same time, Lakshya Sen has raised hopes of a medal by entering the semi-finals of men's badminton. On the other hand, India has been disappointed in sports like archery and judo.
Amazing performance of Manu Bhaker and Lakshya Sen
22-year-old shooter Manu has already created history by winning 2 consecutive bronze medals. She won medals in the 10 meter pistol event and 10 meter pistol mixed team event and became the first Indian to win 2 medals in the same Olympics. On the 7th day of the Paris Olympics, she made a great start for India and staked her claim for the third medal by reaching the final of the 25 meter pistol event of women's shooting. Her next match is on Friday, 3 August. If she wins a medal in this, she will become the first Indian to win 3 medals in the Olympics.
Lakshya Sen created a new record in the quarterfinal match of men's badminton singles. He entered the semifinal by defeating Taiwanese player Chou Tien Chen 19-21, 21-15 and 21-12. He has become the first Indian to reach the semifinal of this event. Now on August 4, he will again step on the court for the semifinal.
Victory over Australia after 52 years
The Indian hockey team created history on the day of the Paris Olympics. The Indian players started attacking from the first quarter itself and took the lead by scoring 1 goal. After this, the team scored two more goals, while the Australian team could score only 2 goals. In this way, India won 3-2 against Australia. India created history by defeating Australia after 52 years in the Olympics. Before this, the Indian team had defeated Australia in the 1972 Olympics.
These players lost the chance for a medal
In Judo, Tulika Mann lost to former Olympic and world champion Idalis Ortiz of Cuba in the opening round (+78 kg). With this, her journey in Olympics 2024 has come to an end. She had a chance to win a medal, as its medal match was to be held on 2 August itself. Apart from her, Indian archers Dheeraj Boomdevara and Ankita Bhakat also missed out on winning a medal. They performed brilliantly in the quarter-finals and reached the semi-finals, but had to face defeat at the hands of Korea there. Despite this, they could have won the bronze, but America defeated them 6-2 in the bronze medal match.
These players disappointed
Balraj Panwar finished 23rd in the rowing men's singles sculls event and was out of the medal race. In the women's 5000 meter race, the performance of both Indian athletes Parul Chaudhary and Ankita Dhyani was very disappointing. Both the sprinters were eliminated in the first round itself. 20 athletes participated in the heats round of this event. To make it to the finals, it was necessary to make it to the top-8, while Parul finished 14th and Ankita last. In shooting, Isha Singh could not qualify for the finals.
