Opener Aiden Markram (106) played a stormy century in the second Test match played against India in Cape Town, but despite this inning, he could not save the South African team from defeat. He completed his century by hitting a four off 99 balls in the South African second innings.

This was the 7th century of his Test career. With this, he has come sixth in terms of scoring the fastest century in Tests for South Africa. From South Africa, this record is held in the name of former captain AB de Villiers, who scored a century in 75 balls against India in Centurion in 2010.

Hashim Amla had achieved this feat in 87 balls against Australia in Perth in 2012. Whereas Dennis Lindsay had scored a century in 95 balls against Australia in Johannesburg in 1966. Jonty Rhodes and Shaun Pollock have also scored centuries on 95-95 balls only.
