Australia has announced the playing eleven for the Sydney Test. There is a big change in Australia's playing eleven. This change has happened in place of Mitchell Marsh, who has been dropped by Australia and a new player has been included in the team. It has selected Beau Webster in the playing eleven for the Sydney Test. Captain Pat Cummins has approved Australia's playing eleven in Sydney. The last test of the series between India and Australia is starting in Sydney on January 3.
Beau Webster replaces Mitchell Marsh
However, Beau Webster had got a place in the team only after the defeat in the Perth Test. Mitchell Marsh was injured during the Perth Test, due to which Webster was included in the team as a back-up. However, Marsh's injury was not very serious. And, despite the failure in the Perth Test, the management's faith in him remained intact. So he continued to play. But, after Perth, when he failed to score runs in Adelaide, Brisbane, and Melbourne, now the Australian team management decided to give Beau Webster a debut in his place.
Why did Beau Webster get a chance to debut?
Mitchell Marsh has scored 73 runs with the bat at an average of just 10.42 in 7 innings of the current Border-Gavaskar Trophy. In bowling, he has taken only 3 wickets in 6 innings. Marsh has had to bear the brunt of this poor performance. Mitchell Marsh may be struggling with poor form right now. But, he is Australia's top all-rounder. His role was important in helping Australia win the ODI World Cup, where he scored 441 runs in 10 matches with 2 centuries and 1 half-century.
On the other hand, talking about Beau Webster, he is going to become the 469th Australian player to make his Test debut. Since March 2022, his average in first class cricket has been 57.10. During this period, he has taken 81 wickets at an average of 31.70.
Mitchell Starc also gets the green signal
Before the Sydney Test, there was some question about Mitchell Starc's injury. But, while announcing the playing eleven, Australian captain Pat Cummins answered that as well. He said that there is nothing to worry about. Mitchell Starc will play in the Sydney Test.
