IND vs AUS: When the umpire gave Virat not out, Steve Smith raised questions
A controversy has arisen over the umpire's decision of not out against Virat Kohli in the fifth Test of the Border Gavaskar Trophy being played in Sydney. After Virat Kohli was caught in the slip, the Australian players started celebrating. But the umpire declared it not out. However, Australia's legendary batsman Steve Smith seemed unhappy with this decision. He later said that Virat Kohli was 100 percent out. Smith claimed that Virat's catch was clean. The ball had not touched the ground.
The umpire gave Virat not out.
While playing a ball outside the off stump of Scott Bowland, Virat Kohli got caught in the slip. The ball took the outside edge of the bat and went to Steve Smith. He dived and tried to catch the ball with one hand but he was not in a position to complete the catch so he bounced the ball. After this, Marnus Labuschagne caught the ball and completed the catch. Australian players started celebrating Virat's wicket. But Virat was declared not out.

When the TV umpire checked Virat's catch closely, he found that the ball had touched the ground. After this, he was declared not out. But during the lunch break, English commentator Isa Guha asked Steve Smith, 'Was your hand under that ball?' To this, Smith replied, 'It cannot be denied 100 percent. But the decision given by the umpire has to be accepted.'
Kohli could not take advantage of the lifeline.
Even though Virat Kohli got the support of the umpire, he still could not take advantage of the lifeline. After Adelaide, Gaba, and Melbourne, Virat flopped in Sydney as well. Virat got a lifeline on the ball of Bowled and later he was out on the ball of Bowled. In the first innings of the Sydney Test, Virat Kohli scored 17 runs in 69 balls and got caught by debutant Beau Webster.
