The first encounter between India and Australia in the semi-finals of an ICC tournament took place in 2007. This semi-final match was played in the first edition of the T20 World Cup. In that match played at the Durban ground, India defeated Australia and booked a ticket to the final.
Batting first, India scored 188 runs for 5 wickets in 20 overs. In reply, chasing the target of 189 runs, Australia could only score 173 runs for the loss of 7 wickets in 20 overs. India won that semi-final of T20 World Cup 2007 against Australia by 15 runs. Yuvraj Singh was the hero of that victory from India's side, who scored a quick 70 runs in 30 balls.
India-Australia second clash in ICC semi-final
The second encounter between India and Australia in the semi-finals of an ICC tournament was in the semi-finals of the ODI World Cup held in 2015. In the second semi-final of that World Cup played in Sydney, Australia batted first and scored 328 runs for 7 wickets in 50 overs. In reply, Team India was all out for 233 runs. India lost that match by 95 runs and was eliminated from the tournament.
The third semi-final clash will take place in Champions Trophy 2025
Now the third clash between the two teams is going to take place in the Champions Trophy 2025. This time the match is also on the soil of UAE. This match will be played in Dubai, when Team India has played and won all its matches of the tournament. Although Australia has not played any match of Champions Trophy 2025 in Dubai so far.
