Indian captain Rohit Sharma will have a chance to break a big record of Virat Kohli in the three-match T20 series against Afghanistan starting from Thursday. If he is successful in scoring 44 runs, he will become the Indian captain with the highest run scorer in T-20 cricket.

Former Indian captain Virat Kohli had scored 1570 runs in 50 matches as T-20 captain. As Indian T-20 captain, Rohit Sharma has scored 1527 runs in 51 matches. Indian opener Rohit Sharma has so far scored 3853 runs for Team India in 148 T20 International matches at a strike rate of 139.24 and an average of 31.

He has also scored four centuries in the shortest format of cricket. It is noteworthy that Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli have made a comeback in the international T20 team after almost one and a half years. Both played their last match on 10 November 2022.
