The biggest match of the Champions Trophy 2025 i.e. the final will be played on 9 March at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium in Dubai. In this match, the teams of India and New Zealand will face each other. This will be the second clash between these two teams in this edition. Earlier, the last match of the group stage was also played between these two teams, where India won. However, there is going to be pressure on both the teams in this match, because the trophy is at stake. But the biggest question is that if the match is canceled for any reason, then which team will become the champion.

If the final is cancelled then who will become the champion?

So far, 3 matches have been washed out due to rain in the Champions Trophy 2025. But in knockout matches, the ICC tries to get the result at all costs, for which some different rules have been made as compared to the group stage. This time the ICC had kept a reserve day for both the semi-final matches and there is also a reserve day for the final. That is, if this match is not completed on March 9, then the match will be played on March 10 as well. But every effort will be made to finish the game on the scheduled day. If this is not possible, then on the reserve day the match will start from where it was stopped.

On the other hand, in the semi-finals, the rule was that if the match is cancelled, the top team of the group stage will qualify for the final. But this will not be seen in the final. If the final is cancelled due to rain or any other reason, the trophy will be shared. That is, both the teams will be jointly considered champions. At the same time, Duckworth Lewis rule can also be used to decide the result, but for this also a match of at least 25-25 overs is necessary.

Has the Champions Trophy final ever been cancelled?

Let us tell you, the Champions Trophy started in the year 1998 and till now it has happened only once that the final match has been cancelled. Actually, the final match of the 2002 Champions Trophy was to be played between India and host Sri Lanka. But due to rain this match could not be played and the trophy was shared between the two teams. At that time also a reserve day was kept in the final, but then the game was played from the beginning on the reserve day.
