The International Cricket Council (ICC) made an important announcement regarding the upcoming World Cup 2023 tournament on September 22, 2023. A prize money of $10 million will be given for this prestigious event starting in India on October 5.

The 13th edition of the One Day International (ODI) World Cup promises to be an exciting contest as all ten participating teams will face each other in an engaging round-robin format during the group stage. The teams will fight hard on the field to secure their positions in the points table. Only the top four teams will earn the coveted opportunity to reach the semi-finals, adding to the excitement and anticipation of the tournament.

India qualified as hosts, while New Zealand, England, Bangladesh, Pakistan, Australia, Afghanistan, and South Africa advanced from the Super League. Sri Lanka and the Netherlands had to fight hard in the qualifiers to secure their places in the World Cup.

The champion of the Men's Cricket World Cup 2023 will be awarded a cool sum of US$4 million from the overall prize pool.

Prize money will also be available to be won during the group stage, with teams receiving $40,000 for each win. Additionally, at the conclusion of the group stage, the teams that do not advance to the knockout round will each be awarded $100,000.

The prize money also sets a precedent for the upcoming ICC Women's Cricket World Cup in 2025. The International Cricket Council (ICC) made an announcement during its annual conference in Durban, South Africa in July 2023, announcing equal prize money for both men and women. This decision not only promotes gender equality but also represents an important step towards recognizing and valuing the achievements of women cricketers at par with their male counterparts.

ICC World Cup 2023 Prize Money:

The final winner of the tournament will be crowned the winner and will be awarded a staggering $4,000,000.

The runner-up will be awarded a grand prize of $2,000,000.

Even the teams that reach the semi-finals but are not able to secure a place in the finals will not go away empty-handed. The losing semi-finalists, a title that does not diminish their achievements, will each receive a generous prize of $800,000, bringing the total to $1,600,000.

As the competition progresses, some teams will unfortunately be eliminated after the group stage. However, their efforts will not go unnoticed, as each of these six teams will receive a consolation prize of $100,000, resulting in a collective sum of $600,000.

But the rewards don't stop there. Each winning team in the group stage matches will be awarded $40,000. With a total of 45 matches, the winners of these exciting matches will collect $18,000,000.
