After the century innings of Virat Kohli (117) and Shreyas Iyer (105), India defeated New Zealand by 70 runs in the semi-finals of the ICC ODI World Cup on the basis of the killer bowling of Mohammed Shami (seven wickets). During his century innings, Virat Kohli registered many big records in his name.

On the basis of this innings, he completed his seven hundred runs in this World Cup. He became the first batsman to achieve this feat in a World Cup. He also scored 711 runs in this tournament. Along with this, he also broke Sachin Tendulkar's record of most runs in a World Cup.

Sachin Tendulkar had scored 673 runs in 2003. Virat Kohli has scored 711 runs in 10 matches of World Cup 2023. This includes 3 centuries and 5 half-centuries. He has reached the first position in the list of contenders for the Golden Bat in this World Cup.
