​​Former Indian captain Virat Kohli (101 not out) has equaled the record of former great batsman Sachin Tendulkar by scoring a century in the ICC ODI World Cup played in Kolkata on Sunday against South Africa.

Like Sachin, Virat Kohli has now scored 49 ODI centuries. Virat Kohli achieved this big achievement on the occasion of his birthday. He has become the third Indian cricketer to score a century on his birthday. Earlier, Vinod Kambli and Sachin Tendulkar had achieved this big achievement for India. 

Former left-handed batsman Vinod Kambli scored an unbeaten 100 against England at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur on his 21st birthday in 1993. Sachin Tendulkar had played an inning of 134 runs against Australia in Sharjah on the occasion of his 25th birthday in 1998.
